Come be at the farm Monday-Thursday, from 9:30am-1pm! This kids cooking series is one you surely do not want to miss!
A preview of the week’s adventures:
Monday -?ÿA welcome to the farm!?ÿ A tour and introduction to what we do at The Kitchen and the farm.?ÿ Then a trip to visit the ladies in the chicken coop.?ÿ Weƒ??ll learn how to raise chickens, different breeds of chickens and the eggs they lay, and what to do with the eggs when we bring them to The Kitchen.?ÿ Weƒ??ll learn the basics of egg cookery, from over-easy to the perfect omelet.?ÿ Weƒ??ll move on to egg based sauces like hollandaise and fresh mayonnaise, and finish with souffl??s and egg-based custards.
Tuesday -?ÿWeƒ??ll learn about the magical enzymes of fresh dairy!?ÿ From the care of dairy animals to the types of milk, weƒ??ll learn all about what you can do with milk.?ÿ Weƒ??ll make homemade yogurt, fresh mozzarella cheese, buttermilk and ice cream ƒ?? all from scratch!
Wednesday?ÿƒ???ÿWeƒ??ll get our hands dirty learning about bringing things from seed to plant.?ÿ Weƒ??ll talk about organic farming and the importance of “livingƒ? dirt.?ÿ They will learn the components of soil and how we can positively (and negatively) impact the health of our bodies through what we do to the dirt. Weƒ??ll spend some time in the greenhouse, and help to transfer starts to the garden. Weƒ??ll learn the lifecycle of a seed, harvestings seeds for next year’ bounty as well as for use in The Kitchen.?ÿ This is a day to bring your boots!
Thursday?ÿƒ??We will celebrate the magic of fruit!?ÿ Weƒ??ll learn basic pie making techniques, how to make jam and turn our fresh yogurt into a tasty fruit parfait.?ÿ Weƒ??ll also enjoy our jam with homemade buttermilk biscuits with our very own freshly made buttermilk.?ÿ For those that love baking ƒ?? this is your day!
